That distinction matters because appearance is a poor permission signal. Walking, placing patio furniture and driving a vehicle create very different loads. Keep the written care instructions with the proposal. Record the approved dates for walking, furniture and vehicle use. If weather changes sharply, a covering moves, unexpected rain reaches the surface or another trade needs access, call the contractor instead of improvising.

Another misconception is that hotter weather always makes concrete better because it hardens faster. High temperature can accelerate early strength while creating moisture-loss and finishing challenges. The correct schedule comes from the contractor who knows the mix, placement, weather protection and intended load.
Close the information gap

Ask which curing method will be used, what weather conditions could change it, when barriers may be removed, when each type of use is allowed and whom to contact if protection is disturbed. Record the answers in the same place as the proposal so every household member sees the same dates.
If another contractor, delivery or event needs the area sooner, discuss that before placement. The concrete schedule should not be shortened after the fact because an avoidable access conflict was left unplanned.
